Feb 08: Glad to see Boris top of the floppy download charts. Maybe news is getting about the possiblity that Butterfly Recordings might be releasing the Samantha Marais version of Please Take Your Time (including Boris) as a single soon! The label are hoping Boris will sing it with Samanatha at the launch party in london but as yet he is resisting all forms of persuasion.

Jan 08: Come Dancing mp3 from old floppyrecords-free-mp3s folder had to be removed because the Servers were complaining that too many people were downloading it in an hour (over 4Gbs seems to be their happy limit). So if you want the track now you'll just have to come to the site to get it. In other Fake Tan news the next album is getting closer to being finished. Spent the last year mixing it and making small changes. But basically waiting for nikki to sing 8 lines. Yes it is an instrumental album but there is one track with a bit of vocals - just like Come dancing has vocals on.

Nov 07: Yes a Boris Boogaloo song 'Please Take Your Time' has been rerecorded by folk label Butterfly Records latest signing: Samantha Marais. The track is on her debut album 'The Peppermint Conspiracy' and uses Boris' original vocal as a duet. There is a lovely review of the album at New Noise: '‘Peppermint Conspiracy’ is a beautifully touching album that improves with every listen...Next you’re listening to track 7 (‘Please Don’t Take Everything’?) and you know this is a special album.' Butterfly records is a folk label set up producer Youth and Simon Tong of The Verve, Gorillaz, The Good the Bad and the Queen. All very exciting for us and boris.

Oct 08: Floppy website offline 19 Oct 1pm due to huge number of downloads of Gasgiants Loverboy - 2Gb in an hour - had to promise to delete the track . So either buy the album, release it on p2p or i'll see if i can persuade them to put up on tunecore - for itunes, emusic, napster etc..

wow went forward in time last month. 

Aug 08: Went self employed in may so a bit hectic. and moved servers. Dont know what to make of stats - 24 Gigabites of downloads seems a bit excessive. it was 9 gig last month (which i will try to put up soon). 24 gigs is pretty crazy really - thanks to everyone who has downloaded stuff and to everyone buying it on itunes and such - i will start putting up those stats soon (we've made nearly 16 dollars!)

April 07: Huge stats from site - 4.88gb of downloads and a clean sweep for tantrum. But gasgiant continue to sell so maybe we should restrict tantrum tracks. Tried this before a few times and it has no effect.

Boris's fourth album - 7 beautiful songs - you've got to listen to island lady! Things have moved on from his first album with a fuller more varied sound.

Boris Boogaloo - Long Way Home: released
Boris's Third album is for Blues purists. This time all songs are written by Boris, with the aptly named David Blue supplying lyrics for the fist track - You Should've Come With Me. Guitars, harmonicas and gravely voice - its all there for blues fans all over the world.

First one in over a year, this friday the 10th Feb ( hey arthur of blab have a good wedding) at Cabaret Voltaire, Blair street, Edinburgh. Doors open at 7pm. Gasgiant headline plus support Super Paradise (could have heard that wrong, if so , sorry). This is a special gig for gasgiant because
a: the lazy bastards haven't played for over a year
b: its their album launch gig - go buy it by the way, actually, come buy it from us.
c: the labum has lots of guest musicians playing and they are all here for the gig so its a full line up of the extras, should it should be brilliant (or maybe a disaster you know how these things go). either way its worth watching, and listening.
Tickets £5 or £4. go.

Reviews - Are gasgiant in Is This Music? are they on the cover disc? Are the reviewed over at the Skinny Website or in the paper. We'll see.

April 05: Gasgiant's new album, the follow up to 'Alexander's Dark Band' is finished! The track order and artwork is still being sorted out but the album should be available in a month's time or so and can i just say that its sounding very good. tantrum's Advice to Users album finally sent out to press and radio.

So, all of our tracks are now available as 128kps mp3s, again, which means tantrum, fake tan and tinkerbells dope ring, not gasgiant and boris (we will try to persuade these 2 that it makes no difference). So, albums for 4.99 and all tracks as free mp3s, goodness, will it work? As a slacker label it makes no odds, the music's free and if people want to help us to a 4 day week that would be great.

Had the annual rush of surely disappointed people wanting to download Little Donkey for christmas - and its just not that tune. I somehow doubt conversion rates are good.

Floppy Records drops its album prices to £9 which was less of a hassle than making it 8.99 which is what we were advised to do.
Gasgiant go into the studio to record their next (second) album on the 15 Dec 2004 at last. Wild excitement all round, can't wait.

Boris Boogaloo - Time: released
'Time' slices up and adds accompaniment to original 1970s recordings and demos of unreleased Boris Boogaloo songs. Boris was somewhat taken by this and re-recorded some of these to add to his second album 'Crazy Shadows'.
