News:
April 08: We are not particularly big in Japan at a guess but huge in China. Though 35Gb of the 37Gb are downloaded by 'Unknown' the next biggest download country is China. And certainly the Baidu Search engine is one of the main Search engines that visits our site. So, hello china, thanks for making it over the wall and having a listen. How about making a video to our music and letting us put it on the site? Call it a shopping bag video.
27th Mar: And did you hear Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 play Sam Marais's 'Please take your time' - with our very own Boris? Radio 2! Excellent.
Mar 08: New Idea! and album actually, we have a compilation album: 'just a selection of floppy records vol 1' with 11 tracks of floppy records artists including a track from the new Fake Tan album. And you get it for free when you buy any album from us, plus a cd of the 2 albums with high quality mp3s on too so you don't have to rip the albums.
Also, We are starting to roll out selling the albums online for £2. This gets you access to a zip file containing high quality mp3s of the album plus cover artwork and a track listing file.
So far its just tantrum advice to users but we'll do the rest soon.

Floppy Records Floppy Records has been giving away music online since 1997. Floppy Records was set up in 1991 by me to release the Audrey Hepburn EP by Tinkerbell’s Dope Ring (which i played in along with Mik Wheeler, drummer, of Gasgiant fame and a lot of bass players including Scott Shaw (now XFM Scotland), Sue Allen, Dave, Robin, Arthur Finlay, Deke Patton (DJ Outlaw), and others. We released a few things for Tinkerbells, none did well, so i obviously have a great deal of in-experience to talk about these matters. Nikki and i then formed tantrum and fake tan, gasgiant release stuff and we found boris. All are bands and musicians based in Scotland (and on the whole Edinburgh, though Floppy Records has moved to the Borders). Our hope was to sell 5000 albums a year. Thats not going to happen is it. Perhaps i should re-define this to sell 1000 tracks online from various music sites. Actually its not that at all, its to keep writing, recording and releasing music, the rest just doesn't matter. Which handily explains why i can't be bothered with the important stuff of music business business ie: promoting and selling. Probably one of the many reasons we haven't sold much in the past is not organising distribution so they weren't available to buy anyway - things like that seem obvious but i never thought about them. BANDS
Floppy Records is the record label for 5 bands: Tinkerbell's Dope Ring, tantrum, Fake Tan, Boris Boogaloo and Gasgiant or maybe we just sell their albums, its up to them, ooh and now the wonderful Blab.
For more information on bands': biographies, reviews, images, free mp3 downloads, recording details and how to buy albums, click here: Blab, Tinkerbell's Dope Ring, tantrum, Fake Tan, Boris Boogaloo, Gasgiant and Engine.Remixes & Videos Videos and remixes - we have some and we've uploaded the remixes, just not the videos yet, and if anybody fancies having a shot at doing some please do, we would love to see/hear them. Demos
Please don’t send us your demo. We set up our own label to sell our own music. You could consider doing the same thing. How to set up your own Record Label:
Record labels, setting up a record label, making and selling albums, distribution, free mp3 music websites, copyright, and publishing companies and more. All somewhat innaccurate (probably) but not intentionally misleading, but there you go. More on setting up your own record label>
